Classic rock band cancels tour, tells fans to ‘blame it on the weather'

The Steve Miller Band is blaming the cancellation of their 2025 tour on the weather. The band announced that cancellation on its website and on social media Wednesday, July 16. 'You make music with your instincts. You live by your instincts. Always trust your instincts,' Miller wrote before formally announcing the cancellation of his band's tour. 'The combination of extreme heat, unpredictable flooding, tornadoes, hurricanes and massive forest fires makes these risks for you our audience, the band and the crew unacceptable,' Miller continued. 'You can blame it on the tour is cancelled.' The musician added that he hopes to see fans on the road again, but was unsure when and how that will happen. 'Wishing you all peace, love and happiness,' Miller wrote. 'Please take care of each other.' The tour had in some well-known venues across 19 states including Bethel Woods Center for the Arts in New York, Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course in Pennsylvania, Etess Arena at Hard Rock Live in New Jersey, the Pinewood Bowl Center in Nebraska, the Orion Amphitheater in Alabama and the Mountain Winery in California, according to Billboard. Miller was also supposed to perform at the Minnesota State Fair this year. The musician did not reference any specific weather events, but the cancellation coincides with ongoing search efforts in the wake of the deadly Texas floods that happened over the Fourth of July weekend. At least 134 people have died in the floods since the July 4 disaster, KHOU 11 reported. The raging flash floods are among the nation's worst in decades, according to the Associated Press. Information regarding refunds for the Steve Miller Band's tour has yet to be revealed.
